The Haitang Bay project is a residential project adjacent to Dadun Sea, intended to be a top-tier tourism accommodation option in Beihai city. The design team has blurred the boundaries between architecture, art, and culture, making the space closer to nature and enabling it to convey powerful emotions. This approach sets the project apart from other real estate sales centers, which often feature stereotypical commercial features.
The design of the space is characterized by large areas of white, which extend the space in a serene and pure fashion. Smooth curves outline the beauty of the building, while spiral ladders create an air of other-worldly magic, making visitors feel like they are wandering on the clouds. The use of different building materials allows for natural transitions between multiple interspersed curves, eliminating the border between architecture and interior space and offering a huge visual impact to visitors.
The project, which covers an area of 2206 square meters, started in July 2019 and was completed in August 2019. The sales center is not only used for marketing and reception at present but is also intended for the community clubhouse in the future. This required the designers to prioritize the flexibility of spatial organization and functional requirements when designing the center.
The highlight of the project is the rare ecological sea views and the expressive curved ramp at the bottom of the building, which is in concert with the long shoreline of the Silver Beach. The main part of the architecture has an ascending trend that echoes with the theme of “Bright Moon Rising Above the Sea”. This design was recognized with a Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021, a testament to the designers' innovative approach and the project's impact on the field of design.
Through the Zhangtai Haitang Bay project, Tao Huang and Zhihong Li have demonstrated how design can be used to redefine the concept of a real estate sales center, creating a space that is not only functional but also emotionally engaging and aesthetically pleasing. This project serves as an example of how design can be used to bring space, nature, and people closer together, creating a more meaningful and enjoyable experience for visitors.
